Our client, a well established High Street Retailer, has a fantastic opportunity for a Design Manager to join their Head Office in Nottinghamshire.
The successful candidate will lead a team across 3D decoration and surface pattern & print. You'll be accountable for the delivery of commercial trends that bring continuity across the look and feel of all categories and use those trends to design product ranges across the company’s product brand.
You will utilise your extensive knowledge of different product ranges to work on multiple projects but always with a high commercial focus, ensuring product concepts can be realised and brought to market in a timely and cost-effective manner, working in conjunction with the technical team to value and cost engineer products to price points.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for delivering multiple product ranges.
Direct involvement in increasing the number of product SKU’s with a targeted annual sales growth as outlined in set KPI’s.
Implementation and adherence of a handwriting style and brand guidelines, that brings cohesion across the product landscape.
Research, identify and translate micro trends from Macro Trends for the customer informing both the aesthetic and functional elements of the product.
Create Trend and Design material presentations that will influence and guide products to be both designed and selected off shelf.
Deliver products to a retail critical path, making continual improvements to the delivery at pace.
Lead the Print & 3D decorative design team to maximise efficiency and capacity of the team, ensuring high quality design output with pace.
Develop the capability of the Print & 3D decorative Design team in line with the business deliverables.
Maintain a high standard of Print & 3D decorative design output, to a set of KPI’S and ensure projects delivered on time.
Manage the end to end design process from customer insight through to pre-production sample.  
Key requirements:
Proven experience in developing profitable product ranges covering multiple categories, good financial understanding including cogs, margins, profit, sales.
Detailed understanding of the trend industry and the ability to translate information from macro to micro trends to be relevant for its customer segmentation.
Excellent design skills demonstrating creative approach.
Proficient at using industry design software: AVA, Adobe.
Ability to create detailed technical specification to create briefs to send to manufacture.
A detailed understanding of the substrates you are designing for the manufacturing capabilities and how to utilise these to get the best product, value and cost engineering where required.
Excellent presentation skills with the ability to create and present material for training
and sharing information purposes.
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of design professionals.
Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
