Job Specification:
An excellent opportunity for a Web Designer/Developer to join a leading East Midlands University who have consistently been placed highly in the guides and league tables on UK Universities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of websites for both internal and external customers, managing the process from initial design brief to site completion. You will use your knowledge of new media technologies to ensure developments meet the customer’s needs.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Produce original website designs for internal and external customers.
Develop fully-accessible websites based on agreed designs.
Manage the website design process from initial brief to site completion.
Provide customer support and technical assistance.
Follow the University’s visual identity guidelines when appropriate.
Ensure website developments adhere to accessibility guidelines.
Liaise with internal and external customers, and external suppliers when required.
Keep abreast of advances in new media technology and communicate to colleagues when appropriate.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
Essential requirements for the role:
Proven experience of designing and developing websites from conception to implementation.
Experience of liaising with customers to develop design briefs.
Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of valid HTML and CSS to W3C standards. Experience of developing dynamic websites using PHP and MYSQL would also be beneficial as would experience of using JavaScript.
Demonstrate excellent design skills with a strong portfolio of work.
Excellent working knowledge of web design applications including Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Sound knowledge of and strong commitment to web standards, website accessibility and usability.
Demonstrate excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
